Killer Intent by Tony Kent
5.0
First, congratulations to Mr. Kent as this novel will be adapted into a TV series!
Now, my review: More like 4.5 stars. This is a fast-paced, action-packed novel with a plot that is so realistic it scares me. Terrorism is a hot topic for writers but it's also a challenging topic because when the plot becomes too far-fetched and over the top, it lacks the appeal. After all, people fear terrorism because they destroy lives, tear families apart and traumatize the survivors. What I like about this book is that despite the grand political scale on which this novel is based, it's still a character driven novels, with enough exploration of the main characters (Dempsey and Michael in particular, not so much about Sarah though). This is very hard to do and I congratulate Mr. Kent for managing that. Also, it has a rather realistic portrayal of politicians and the political parties. When I say "realistic" portrayal, I'm not referring to the action, I'm referring to the nasty acts politicians do to reach and stay in power, or the extravagance politicians enjoy at the expense of lives of military men and law enforcement personnel.
Killer Intent is not without it's faults (aside from the point I mentioned in the spoiler above. Another problem is the ending. I'm sure this is a subjective matter and people are entitled to their opinions so that some make like it but I, personally, HATE it.
Overall, I enjoyed Killer Intent and am looking forward to the sequel! More sexy Dempsey is good.

Spoiler
(as it's still a bit hard to believe a barrister can dodge the bullets from one of the best professional killer, even if he's the son of a gangster. Street fights are just different from professional combat, not to mention all the time studying to be a barrister and Michael's age makes it hard to believe he can even land a punch on Joshua)Killer Intent is not without it's faults (aside from the point I mentioned in the spoiler above. Spoiler
I'm the naive type who prefer evil people being condemned for their actions. Of course, in a real world, this ending is more fitting for politicians will travel all the lengths to secure their power, even if it means honoring a monster. Nonetheless, I read novels simply to get away from the reality and this novel is too REAL to give me that pleasure.Overall, I enjoyed Killer Intent and am looking forward to the sequel!
