I think I liked this even better than the first book (Serpentine). It's darker and creepier and a bit more adult, so it's definitely one of those sequels that "grows" with the reader. In Serpentine, Skybright was a child beginning to figure out what it means to be a woman, but here, in Sacrifice, she's a young woman trying to find her place, torn between two worlds. She's accepted that she's half demon, but what does that mean in a practical sense? Will she have to choose one world, or can she exist in both?
No spoilers, but I really liked how all of the characters, not just Skybright, matured and found their places in the world, even if none of them quite did it in the ways that they had expected. Overall a very good read!
