Not Your Sidekick by C.B. Lee

4.0

Fast paced, addictive and adorable, this was a beyond fun read.

I have and will probably always be a sucker for superhero stories and this one ticked all the boxes. Sure, it was cliche and super predictable but it didn't matter because it was so gosh darn entertaining and took absolutely nothing away from my enjoyment of the story.

The instantly loveable cast of characters were charismatic and wonderfully diverse. Jess, the MC, is a Chinese-Vietnamese bi girl in an f/f relationship, one of the side characters is a Black trans boy, another is a lesbian and another is Latina. The relationships both platonic and romantic were adorable and the complex family dynamics were fab, so I'm so excited to see where they go as the series continues.

All in all, this was a super fun and easy read with memorable characters and a story I can't wait to continue following.
