The Children's Bible in 365 Stories by Mary Batchelor
4.0
We are currently reading this with our kids and are impressed with the quality of the writing and the illustrations. My 6 and 7 year olds especially love it; the 4 year old has the attention span of a gnat when legos aren't involved, so we stick to [b:Read Aloud Bible Stories Volume 1|1089487|Read Aloud Bible Stories Volume 1|Ella K. We also read the KJV, but these story books are great for me, too, as I've only read the Old Testament once all the way through so I don't always remember all of the stories. Really great for families and independent readers!
I can also recommend [b:A Stage Full of Shakespeare Stories: 12 Tales from the world's most famous playwright|38741009|A Stage Full of Shakespeare Stories 12 Tales from the world's most famous playwright|Angela McAllister|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1534544053l/38741009._SX50_.jpg|60329678] if you would like a good story-introduction to Shakespeare. I think familiarity of stories is great before you get into these rich older texts!
