The Darkness Within by Raquel Riley

4.0

Brewer
12 years sober, Brewer has seen and heard it all as a trauma and substance therapist, not much can shock him, until Nash…. He’s a mess and he needs someone to lean on, but how can Brewer be that person for Nash without risking all the hard work he has put into his sobriety and life. Nash is a danger to him but more so to his heart because one look at Nash and Brewer knew he was done, he found his man, his broken man and god all he wants to do fix him but Nash has to want it for himself. Brewer will love his man no matter what, he will be strong for him and help him.
Help him heal, help him fight, help him to wake up everyday and live.

Nash
Twenty two days is all it took to destroy everything he had ever known, everything he ever held dear to his heart. The enemy broke him, ripped his soul to shreds, tore at his heart and end the life of his best friend. Just twenty two days and they levelled his entire existence. He was lucky to return home but he cannot escape the prison of his mind. Hitting rock bottom he finds his very own saviours in the persistent veterans of BALLS. Taking the first step, he didn’t expect to lay eyes on someone as stunning as Brewer, a gorgeous Veteran with his own dark past and struggles. He is everything that Nash wants and needs, but he has to admit he needs help first..He must surrender.
Surrender to peace, surrender to forgiveness, surrender to love.

This story was absolutely heartbreaking and soul warming to witness. Embracing one another’s flaws, two men fight for their future, to build a life together and always hold each other through the darkness.

The darkness within. The fight within. The serenity within.
