Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes by Edith Hamilton

1.0

This was really disappointing, in a most annoying way.
It reads like a lecturer's personal precis for a selection of myths, predominantly ancient Greek and Roman (with a short aside into Norse).

The damningly frustrating aspect is the ambiguous and inconsistent voice of the writer. In each paragraph you are left with few clues as to whether you are actually reading the myth, reading a summary of the myth, or reading the writer's commentary on the myth and related circumstances.

In short, maybe a good cram guide if you need to regurgitate a few facts in short order, but it fails to impart true and reliable knowledge and understanding. A complete waste of time.
