The Poisoned Crown by Maurice Druon

informative medium-paced

4.0

The third installment of the story of the Capetian Dynasty.  Louis X of France sits upon the throne, his first wife killed in prison, he now can marry  Clémence of Hungry. The marriage is rushed so the she may be crowned and Louis hopes for an immediate heir.  Poor Clemence is unaware of the back stabbing court she has been thrown into.

I am loving this historical fiction that Druan worked tediously on to ensure the story was as accurate , his research is top drawer.

Although this book was slow in parts, it still kept me interested. Book 3 is building the bridge to all the comes next, in my opinion.
