More cozy mystery than romance, this is a POV: outsider moment. While it aligned the narrator with the reader in terms of information about what was going on, she was removed from the heart and heat of the emotions involved in the wedding/murder and so the reader was forced to exist on the outside too. 
Entertaining if not overly impressive on the character development side!
