This book is pure fanfiction about an author and her character. It is anachronistic, self referential, lifts directly from The Princess Bride in places, and contains a lot of misconceptions about 19th century life. That said it was also fantastic.

I got this book a couple years back in a book subscription box and judged it by the cover (and description) neither of which did it service.

This book was unbelievably funny. It has an exciting plot with ghosts and mystery and intrigue, and a pseudo historical English setting that had me gleefully turning each page.

It was super fun around Halloween too. Just a wee bit of lighthearted spookiness. I had a ton of fun reading it, and because it was just so fun I'm giving it 5 stars.
