Dare to Kiss by S.B. Alexander

5.0

In Dare to Kiss, the first book in the Maxwell Series, by S.B. Alexander, all Lacey Robinson wants to do is play baseball. In order to do that, she needs to make the boys’ baseball team at her new high school. Not only is she dealing with a guy who doesn’t want any girls on his team, but she’s also been suffering from PTSD after finding her mother and sister murdered. On top of all that, Kade Maxwell is making her life a bit more complicated. She never intended to fall for him, but he soon captures her attention and makes her feel something she has never felt before. Will she be able to open up to him about her past? And will she let these obstacles get in the way of her dreams?

What an amazing book! What I loved the most was the main character, Lacey. She is such a tough girl and definitely knows how to take care of herself. One thing that I think gets overdone in books is a man rescuing a damsel in distress. Yes, Lacey has her issues and Kade feels the need to protect her, but at the end of the day, she is her own person with her own goals and aspirations, with or without Kade, which I absolutely love. Then, of course, there’s the romance. And I have to say, S.B. Alexander wrote this perfectly in my opinion. The pace, the blossoming romance, the conflicts, just everything about their relationship from beginning to end was written not only in a realistic way but also in a way that left me wanting more. This was one of those books that I could not put down, and I was so devastatingly disappointed to see it end. However, I was so happy to hear that the next book will be about Lacey and Kade. Not to sound like a fangirl, but I definitely need more Lacey and Kade. Dare to Kiss is a must read and must own for any fans of the new adult genre. If you’re like me, you will admire Lacey and fall in love with Kade. I will be counting down the days until the next book is released.
