A Ruin of Roses by K.F. Breene

I so badly wanted to like this one… Not only because the cover is beautiful, but because the blurb makes this story out to be a beautiful, albeit dark, retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Instead, what you’ll get is a story about a gullible girl who, despite taking care of essentially her entire village for the past 9 years, talks to herself and acts as annoying as a young child. The inner dialogue is meant to come off as cute, I’m assuming, but really it’s distracting and annoying. I’m aLeo left feeling absolutely nothing about Nyfain, who is supposed to be the love interest and prince. His development was essentially non-existent, and I genuinely could not believe it took Finley the entire book to come to the realization that he was the prince..like girl.. I have no words.
