Mile High by Liz Tomforde

funny hopeful lighthearted

4.0

I went into this series with the hope that it would be a palate cleanser from all the dark books that i'd read over the past few weeks as well as life just throwing things left and right. This book did not disappoint.
The banter between the FMC and MMC was just great, I found myself laughing and really loving that she was not just bowing down to him like he was used to and she gave as good as she got. It was really funny to watch their relationship develop and everyone around them knew they were attracted to one another but they kept denying it.

I did want to have a bit more clarity as to why the MMC had to portray this persona for the public, it was never really like delved too deep into. It was like hey this is what we did and this is what I need to keep doing. It was really nice to see him be able to get good advice from people that truly cared about him and how he was able to let go of so much of the hurt that was caused by his childhood traumas.

Watching the FMC come into her own and really start to hold true to the confidence that she had been faking for so long was great. When she was able to stand up for herself and set that much needed boundary with her Mom, I applauded her for that. It can be hard to step out from underneath those generational curses but she did it in the way that worked for her.

I will most likely keep going with the series, i'm more than halfway through The Right Move which is book 2.
