The Touch of Fire by Linda Howard
3.0
The story of a woman doctor in an era when that was a novel concept.
Rafe, a man with a bounty on his head, shows up at Annie's practice wounded and with a gun in his hand, demanding she fix him. He is surprised that the doctor is a woman, but soon discovers that she knows what she's doing, so when she tells him that his wounds need more attention and longer term treatment, he kidnaps her so that she can treat him.
The two get stranded in a cabin in the mountains due to bad weather, and while there, they get to know each other and start developing feelings for one another. Rafe is on a mission to clear his name and when Annie eventually finds out the reason for his wanted status, becomes as determined as he is and accompanies him.
Engaging story set in a harsh world, with two characters that may be opposites but fit each other quite nicely.
