This one flashes back to the 1980’s set in the monster world when a human falls through the first rift between worlds, right into his guest room.
This book was really long, and I was tempted to give it 4.5 stars because it had a lot of over-explained prose like some of the early books. However, she was explaining a whole new world with a story that had a lot of ground to cover. I was so into it. I was also really impressed that she basically wrote something that could be a standalone 7 books deep but with lots of origin details, as well. This book did not go how I thought it would. I cried. A lot. Lor’s steadfast devotion for his sweet 80’s himbo mushed up my heart. And he had so much character growth. I loved it. These books just keep getting better and better.
