Rules In Love - West Village Series #1 - Review

Couple: Finn Austen & Scarlett

Author: Bindi Kennedy

Tropes: single parent romance, workplace romance, new adult romance, insta-attraction, found family

Review: This was my first read from this author and it was a good beginning to a sweet series. The book is dual POV and has a ton of angst.

The main arcs in this book are how the two MCs can give in to their feelings while taking care of their kids. It was a different read for me and I enjoyed how both MCs had different concerns about each other.

Scarlett was not my favorite FMC in the book and I felt like she was immature at times and did not grow as much as I wished. I enjoyed the chapters with her and Finn as they grew closer and also when she was with Ben.

Finn was my favorite in this book. I thought his chapters were hilarious and witty. I also enjoyed how his past played a huge role in his feelings and mental state. I thought the way Bindi wrote his character made the story elevated. The raw loss and confusion Finn’s character has is perfect for his arc and growth. I also thought the way his history came to a head with his feelings for Scarlett were honest and real.

The book has insta-lust vibes and hot chemistry. It is a quick and steamy read that will make you swoon and curse all at once. My only complaint is that the two of them did not communicate for how mature they should have been and I felt like they resolved issues too fast. I enjoyed the secondary characters and hope they get stories too.

Rating: 3/5, too fantastical for me but a good read
