This was pretty far outside of my normal genres, but the synopsis was interesting enough to pull me in. Unfortunately, the book just wasn't for me. I loved the idea of it being about an audiobook narrator - I thought that was interesting, but the rest fell flat. The characters didn't seem real, and their backstories were borderline silly. When we finally got to Sewanee's big reveal about why she wears an eye patch, I thought she was joking at first because the story was so silly. There was also a ton going on besides the main plot - Blah Blah in the nursing home, June's story, Sewanee's parents, Adaku's career/Sewanee's auditions for traditional acting roles. Just so much going on and yet it still felt like nothing was happening.
