This book I put off for sooo long and I’m not sure why. The world building did take some brain power because I refused to the read the prequel series as always (Six of Crows repeat) but once I got in I was IN. Don’t be intimidated by the 500 pages this book has. I literally flew through it in a few days. The writing style is perfect and this book gave me some of the same feelings Six of Crows did. (Not saying they’re that similar but I’m always chasing that feeling.)
The book has it all. An ACTUAL enemies-to-lovers romance, forced proximity, found family, high stakes, and THE BEST male love interest. Just everything about this was so good! I know I’ve already mentioned the romance but if you like romance where they’re always questioning “what are we?” and are unsure for their future and their feelings, then this is perfect for you. I can’t really talk about it in details without spoilers but if you know, you know.
I loved the fantasy elements is this, from the world building to the way every thing just felt so alive. Characters were fantastic, and the plot made me read until the late hours of the night. Literally just everything about this was perfect.
If you love enemies-to-lovers, high stakes, a strong female protagonist, and just well rounded and developed characters in general, and you’re craving a young adult fantasy that will having you flipping through pages as fast as you can then totally read this book!
