Slow. So slow. Not bad, but slow, and far more complicated than I’m used to. The naming didn’t make sense to me. Some characters had historical or made-up names. There was a group of characters with nouns for names. And then random names like “Ryan” were thrown in. It’s personal preference, but it bothered me.
I had a terribly difficult time keeping track of all the different names and families and realms. I still don’t think I’ve got it.
It was good enough that I wanted to keep reading, but there was never a point where I couldn’t put it down.
