His Lady in Hiding by Jen Geigle Johnson

4.0

I enjoyed this story of a titled Lady who runs away from an unwanted engagement to American and becomes a servant. Enjoyed the information on Philadelphia in the early 1800s... touched on themes of slavery with couple of nonfictional characters, Preacher Richard Allen & his wife Sarah who were African Americans who worked tirelessly to abolish slavery. They helped free slaves as part of the Underground Railroad which was not in this book. I liked how the author related how women really had no say in their own lives & at times were basically married off to the highest bidder just like African Americans. It was a fun quick romance.
