This book had really beautiful prose. I enjoy reading novels where the narrator tells stories as if they're writing letters. It was a very powerful, moving story about a father who wants to explain his life to his son whom he mistreated growing up. It really spoke to the power of reading books and how that can change your mindset on how you see the world.
Graphic: Racism, Terminal illness, and Abandonment
Moderate: Suicidal thoughts
Minor: Homophobia and Physical abuse
