I’m noticing a trend in romance books lately where the guy will do something, give an apology or make a grand gesture, and then the mfc will think to herself “he’s so reliable and I know he’ll always be by my side, blah blah blah.” He hasn’t proven it yet but somehow she is just so sure. Even though the whole conflict and third act break up was about how he ditched her. That was this book. Reid had a one track mind for sex, and that was kind of shallow and didn’t lend itself to the reliable mfc that Eve has blind faith that he is. She makes Reid work to earn her forgiveness, but when her brother is an absolute giant douche canoe he just says sorry and gives her a hug and all is well. The scene where they work it out is all about the guys and Eve doesn’t even get to be angry. wtf? Did she just forget?
Meghan Quinn books can be fun but they’re frequently so problematic that I end up not enjoying them as much as I hoped.
