dark hopeful sad medium-paced

This felt like it was supposed to be a mystery but at the same time, it was beyond obvious what the ending would be. So, basically, it's a mystery where the reader knows exactly what's happening on page one, and you just spend the next 250 pages waiting for the mc to catch up. Very little suspense but might still appeal to kids who are a little too into true crime inspired stories
