The Great Mortality by John Kelly

4.0

The writing is florid - Kelly is clearly a fan of flowery similes, anthropomorphising plague, and dramatic descriptions. But I still loved it! This is great first book to look at when looking for an introduction to medieval black death and medieval history. I'd recommend pairing it with The Great Courses video course, The Black Death, to get a better feel of the geography (and a completely different take).
