Love Life by Rob Lowe
3.0
Rob Lowe is a douchebag. Let's just get that out of the way ahead of time. He's pretentious, cocky, and has participated in some very bad behavior throughout his life. He's gotten his shit together in the last couple of decades, but still. Total douchebag.
That being said, I really thoroughly enjoyed [b: Stories I Only Tell My Friends|10211494|Stories I Only Tell My Friends|Rob Lowe|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1442283721s/10211494.jpg|15110962]. Celebrity memoirs are basically a combination of bragging and explaining away behaviors, and he did a really good job doing both in the first book. What was there left to say with this one?
Not all that much, actually. A bit more bragging, including that Warren Beatty banged one of his ex-girlfriends while they were still dating. This is a book about the loves of his life. Which explains why there's a whole chapter on his first trip to the Playboy mansion?
I seemingly skipped entirely over the chapter where he talks about how libraries are going extinct (seen in other GR reviews). Hey, Rob? I didn't buy your book. I also didn't check it out from the library. But I imagine an assload of people who praise it have gotten it from the library. So STFU.
There were a couple of chapters about his kids and his wife which were really great and touching. The chapter on his agent (?)'s passing, which was also great.
Those chapters earned the three. Otherwise, meh.
