Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

4.0

Despite the weird writing style in this book, I did really enjoy it. I felt like I was able to really get to know Juliette and how she felt in all different chapters of her life. The ending left me excited for her future and wanting more from the series. I recommend this book, but be patient with the writing style. The repetitions, crossed out sentences, run on sentences, etc. do fade away as the book goes on. It is important to remember that Juliette has been locked away from others for almost a year, unable to speak to anyone besides herself. The book starts with her hating herself and her “gift” or “power” and the writing style helps the reader to understand just how broken Juliette is. Again, this fades away as Juliette finds herself and begins to embrace her gift. It is a beautiful thing to read and see come to life in your mind. Give it a chance and be patient with the writing. (:

I also would like to add that this book is a super easy and quick read. Both my sister and I finished it within a week.
