The Tattoo Thief by Alison Belsham

4.0

I picked this one up and didn’t put it down until I was finished.

Tattoo artist Marni Mullins discovers a dead body while taking a break during a tattoo convention, and newly-promoted DI Francis Sullivan gets the case. A serial killer is on the loose, taking tattoos from victims while they are still alive, and DI Sullivan is in a race against time to prevent more killings. He quickly recognizes that he will need help navigating the tattoo community and solicits Marni’s help. Despite her distrust of the police, she agrees, and they become an unlikely team. His promotion is on the line, and someone is stalking her beloved tattoo community as they work to solve the crime.

This is my third Belsham book in the last few months, and she is quickly becoming one of my favorite mystery/thriller authors. Her stories are complex and keep you guessing while also being fast-paced and easy to read. She can create a world with many characters that all have a purpose, and none feel superfluous or neglected during the book. This book is creepier than her Lexi Bennett series, but I really enjoyed it and will be continuing with this series!
