The Mistress & The Renowned: A Hades & Persephone Retelling by Jeanette Rose, Alexis Rune, Alexis Rune

3.0

Starting at the cliffhanger from The Maiden and The Unseen, Persephone is explores the Underworld and tries to adapt to her new role -- while unknowingly Hades is trapped and tortured. After his rescue, they struggle to deal with the consequences of activating the fated curse and the mysterious infection in their Underworld. However, a coronation ball must be planned and they must find a way to deal with her cruel mother. Will their love last when facing these challenges?

This book is vastly different from the first book -- It's filled with anguish and miscommunication. Both characters could benefit from some therapy -- especially since their parents are horrible gods/titans. They have huge issues with communication but their love and connection shines through. It was hard for me to wade through all of that (it's not my favorite trope) but it's still a good story and I'm looking forward to the 3rd book in the series.

My favorite parts were the instances of Melinoe and Helios. I would read an entire series of just their interactions.

Cerebus being nicknamed Berry is just the cutest!

Thank you Net Galley and Rose & Star Publishing for the ARC!
