Heartbake: A Bittersweet Memoir by Charlotte Ree

The format of this book sold me. Cookbook, memoir and the journey of love through food, it was exactly what I wanted to read. However, I feel that the message of the book was lost in a stream of mediocre tinder dates which seemed to be the focus. The ending wrapped up in a rush which left me unsatisfied, I don't believe this book was purposefully written, maybe a half-baked story at this point. Ree wrote a beautiful Vogue article about this book, as it was outlined was the perfect medium for her writing, maybe it should have just remained as an article. The presentation of this book and the recipes were spot on but unfortunately these aren't key ingredients of a good memoir.
