The House in the Pines by Ana Reyes
2.0
2.5 stars
Content warning: alcohol abuse, drug dependence, murder
The story relies on the klonopin withdrawal of the protagonist to teeter on the seesaw of reliable/unreliable narrator. Was invested in finishing because of the descriptions of settings (well-grounded in Western MA and the BU/LSU dreams) and wanting closure on memory retrieval, but pace of ending didn't match the rest of the journey and felt lacking.
