I suppose it's my own fault that I didn't like this book: I found all the interludes with the fanfic or the original fic text excruciatingly boring so I didn't read them at all--and then the whole book ends within her fanfic! Clearly there was some deeper meaning there but without having read them to that point, it was lost on me.

I wish something actually happened in the book other than coping with their father--sure, it's about how damaged kids behave differently as ways to cope with the damage, and the father is a key part of that, but thinking back on the book all I can say is nothing _happens_.

Also the main character is so incredibly annoying.
