I was excited to return to Belleview, Massachusetts for the second book in this series: The Boy Who Belonged, especially since The Good Boy (Book #1) was a 5-Star Read for me. While the second book didn’t make quite the same impact on me as the first, I still enjoyed getting to spend more time with these characters.

My version of the eBook also included a .5 Short titled ‘The Naughty Boy,’ that gave us a closer look at Brin by being written in his POV as he helps Lane get ready for his first date with his ex, Derek.

The Good Boy was a lot heavier than the second book, mostly because it included scenes from when Lane was with his abuser as well as when Derek was helping him work through his issues. Lane has managed to grow significantly more stable and confident in The Boy Who Belonged and while reconnecting with his mother threatens this new found confidence, he manages to work through the self doubt she attempts to push on him.

I enjoyed getting more scenes with all of the boys together; Lane, Derek, Brin, and Ferg who have managed to form their own chosen family.

I didn’t like how dependent Lane became on pain play throughout this book as a form of distraction but I suppose I’m glad he was participating in it with someone he trusted.

Overall, I truly did enjoy this book and I still adore all of the characters in this world. I’m glad I got to visit with them again.
