Much better than the previous one, although I've honestly had to just pretend parts of the married relationship don't exist to get through the series - if my husband had said the things to me that Lord Maccon had said, we would no longer be on speaking terms. I have really struggled with that.
THAT SAID, the series is really picking up. I love the plot and twists and bumps and races. The history of the minor characters is developing nicely, and Lyall is still my favorite. (Biffy second, Lord Akel-whatever third. I can't spell his name.)
