The HighFire Crown by M.J. Kraus, J.T. Lawrence

3.0

A good 3.5 stars. I feel this definitely falls into the YA fantasy genre. Vampires, Orcs, Mages, Fae, etc.
Jax is a fighter. She is stubborn to a fault. We meet her and see her faults in this book. I hope we watch her grow in the next.
There are a lot of side characters and things going on. We don't know why everyone wants to hire Jax, but yet she can't pay her rent? None of the characters have a lot of depth, but they can be fun and different.

The story is bit all over and non-stop. Most things get brought together by the end, but not resolved.
Overall a decent story with good characters.
