The title is some what misleading. While, yes, a blue diamond is stolen, focus quickly switched to the theft of a war document and the importance of its recovery. The diamond became more of an afterthought and the story became more muddied trying to continue to keep the diamond relevant once it did. Which is a shame because the opening chapters were awesome. Very much in the vein of classic Sherlock Holmes bolstered with the twist of having his daughter added. Which had me excited to try to figure the mystery out before it was officially revealed but once it became a chase of war politics.. my interest waned.

Also of note.. this is part of a series, so it does jump in expecting you to already know many of the characters. However it does well enough explaining, it's easy enough to read solo.
