Samael & Danica: These Two Could Be Great but I Struggled

Lately, I have been really into Demon Romance. When I read the blurb on this book, I was instantly intrigued. However, I was very apprehensive about this one because I don't usually read books where the heroine is in law enforcement. Call it a pet peeve or being once bitten and twice shy. Not that I don't like feisty, strong-willed heroines. I find that the romance takes a back seat to the case/mystery present in the book that needs to be solved. Sadly, this was the case in Book One.

Danica is a witch who works for the Mage Council, a supernatural police force that regulated all of the paranormal activity and its residents. She steals a very special weapon from Samael, one of the most powerful demons in the territory. Caught and at his mercy, Samael bonds her to him temporarily until she can solve a case for him, who is murdering his demons.

These two are definitely hot and of course, there is angst. However, there was just not enough spice to level out the angst and the mystery took over the story and we rarely got to see the two characters on the same page alone.

The book was well written, and the mystery was very intriguing, but the two characters failed to generate enough heat to have much chemistry on page. The potential is there. I'm not sure if I'll move on to Book Two. Perhaps after I've read something else and come back. This was just OK and will definitely keep your interest.

Happy reading!
