This book...yeah. Not great. It's not the worst I ever read (I'm looking at Gild), but it's definitely not the best.

The romance, if that's what you want to call it, is so hot and cold. The characters supposedly hate each other but one of the MC's is always talking about how attractive they are. Especially when they're TRYING TO KILL THEM AND HUMILIATE THEM. Like sweetie, get your head checked. The only love I was interested was anything with Orion. Literally the only character that kinda made sense.

Darcy and Tory are cool, but they're also super annoying. They just accept that they're being bullied and "can't do anything about it," but also don't try to do anything about it. They made me so angry because they could've been awesome. And they did shine in the few moments they stood up to the Heirs.

The Heirs...why? Their ideology makes absolutely no sense for why they attack the twins. And the half assed reasons are poor writing. Conflicted guys with dark past who abuses women because they think the twins want the throne they stated several times they don't want???? Make it make sense.

This book is average. Not the worst but not the best. I am on book 2 which is EONS better than one so far, which is promising. I only started book 2 in the hopes it had an actual plot and I'm happy to report it does...kinda. But hey...it's better than book 1's edgy no plot.
