Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

5.0

I am in LOVE! This book has everything I could ever want in a book. Historical fiction, romance, murder mystery, and hunting down a real life serial killer. I loved how detailed the autopsies were, and how accurate they were to the time period. As somebody who has wanted to study forensics, and has been called strange for it, I really connected with the main character Audrey Rose. I loved that she disregarded polite society and followed her passions. But I also loved her balance, pairing her love with forensics with a love for fashion and other common "feminine" interests from the time. You can love death and life at the same time. The author did a great job keeping the details of the murders as close to reality as she could, while giving the victims a bit more of a backstory so they weren't just massacred bodies. The romance was sweet, not overbearing, and was the small glimmer of hope needed through a book full of death. I had my suspicions of who the killer may be, but I did not see the "why" coming at all. I can whole heartedly say this is now a favorite of mine, and I can't wait to read the rest of this series!
