Knowing that I rated the first book a 3.5 set me up to be pleasantly surprised with this sequel, especially since I had not originally planned to pick it up. This book expands the world tremendously by centering the godborn experience. The fact that more godborns exist than just Zane drives him to seek a bigger kind of justice than he initially desired. I also appreciated the further development of the mythology which intrigued me and had me wanting more.
