“How does anyone have the right to tell you how to live just because of your weight?”
-Page6

Ellie wore a whale swimsuit for her fifth birthday and ever since, she’s been bullied for her weight. As young Ellie tries to cope she writes down “Fat Girl Rules” in her notebook that she vows to follow.

Ellies safe space is the pool. Its the one place she can stretch out like a starfish, weightless, taking up as much room as she wants.

This book is SO good friends! For a middle grade read it tackles some pretty heavy subjects and really makes you think. I LOVE that it was written in verse which made reading quick and easy. Not to mention I found Ellie and her neighbor incredibly lovable characters.

I plan to purchase a physical copy of this book to have in my personal home library.
It’s that good - highly recommend!
