Walk Me Home by Sebastian Fitzek
2.0
When you call 112, do you immediately trust the person that picks your call? How can you be sure, that they will not stalk you to your home? A man, who used to work for the 112 emergency services a while ago, gets an assignment to replace his friend during a shoft of the companionship hotline. People who call this hotline, are usually seeking for a companion to speak to, so that walking home through the dark and unknown night would feel safer. Actual cases of persons being followed by creepy stalkers is quite rare. However, one called Klara is in real and immediate danger.
I am finding myself audibly repeating the phase “Huh?” throughout the book. First of all, the story is full of twists. Secondly, there is a lot of violence. Third, the number of gaps in the logic is painfully high. I see many situations where the end solution does not fit the narrative. I mean, the concept is good and the book starts off with a thrilling context, but, the ending feels lazy and not so thought-through. Shame, that the end was so weak.
