Hum and Swish by Matt Myers

4.0

The quiet of this book quickly drew me in. A young girl is on a beach and clearly in the midst of creating using objects she finds around her. She loves the sea that doesn't bother her asking questions, gently swishing as she hums and creates. As she is busy constructing and building, people of various ethnicities stroll by curious and ask her what she is making. She always answers "I don't know" somewhat annoyed as she is still unsure herself. Soon a woman painter comes with stand, brushes and canvas and sets up right beside her paying the little girl no attention. Finally, the little girl asks "What are you making?" and she replies "I dont know yet" They continue to work quietly beside one another until they both share what they have completed when done.
A book for introverts, makers and processors who need time to be alone to think and create. Another book to add to the library where readers who like to be quiet and alone will see themselves at the beach.
