Medicine of the Cherokee: The Way of Right Relationship by Michael Tlanusta Garrett, J.T. Garrett

hopeful informative inspiring reflective fast-paced

5.0

This book and Braiding Sweetgrass cover many similar themes in the most beautiful way possible. Overall, both cover topics of respect for the earth and other people through gift giving and reciprocity. This book focuses more on Cherokee stories and methods of healing. I commend J.T. and Michael Garrett for emphasizing the importance of combining traditional/"alternative" medicine and modern medicine, because it is rarely talked about in the greater spiritual community. Reading this felt like a breath of fresh air. There are brief mentions of terminal illness and SA, but these topics were covered in a respectful and non-upsetting way.
