Super by Matthew Cody

5.0

I don't always read books that are in a series. For me the series has to be REALLY good in order for me to continue reading it. I usually like to read the first book in a series, let kids know about the book and that it is a series, and move on to the next book on my list.
I loved Powerless. I read it on my own, then read it with some very reluctant boy readers. I still remember them pleading with me to miss gym class in order to keep reading the book.
Super has been on my TBR list for awhile. One of my students was reading it at home and he kept threatening to give away the plot, so I knew I had to hurry up and read it. It did not disappoint. Powerless was a quick read, especially since it had a lot of suspenseful moments. Super picked up right where Powerless left off and never stopped. It was one twist after another. Every time I thought I had the plot figured out, I was wrong. I remember as I read Powerless, I had question after question, and the author, Matthew Cody, did a great job pulling all the details together. Super does the same thing, which is so rare for a sequel. I thought that Cody had left the ending open for a third installment, but wasn't positive. I put a Tweet out there for the author, and sure enough he wrote back letting me know the third one will be out this fall (2014). Best news I heard that day!
I highly recommend this series. Enjoy. And don't read the ending first! (that was a hard one for me!!!)
