This is a fast paced and action packed story where you need to just hold on and enjoy the ride. Definitely has a combination of Tomb Raider and Mr & Mrs Smith vibes with magic (it is not lost on me that both are Angelina Jolie movies).
All of the characters in this book are likeable and you can just imagine the interactions between them all happening. Kon and Athena meet, have a night of amazing passion which starts a 3 year long rivalry after he steals her latest big find.
Kon's vengeful mission in life is derailed because he couldn't kill his biggest competion. Athena has a dangerous reputation all of her own which is one of the reasons these two are drawn to each other. It's hard to find someone who sees the darkness in you and runs towards it not away.
