OH my word. Who doesn't love a good crime/thriller/mystery type book with some spice thrown?! I thoroughly enjoyed these books and I think that the author does a great job of having a woman be the darker character instead of it always being the male who's dark and traumatized. We meet our lovely Lana who everyone thinks is dead so she's able to kill them without anyone suspecting her. The FBI agent, Logan, doesn't suspect her either and they become entangled and all that those complications bring to the table. It definitely plays up the small town cover-ups and dirty cops/politicians, which coming from a very small town myself I can relate and appreciate the scenario. I enjoyed the emotional struggle Lana has being torn between loving Logan and justice. Lana's backstory absolutely made my heart ache for her and it had me rooting for her to complete her mission the whole time. Logan was the perfect light to her darkness and kept her from having her own psychotic break, rightfully so once you learn what she has gone through. Even though the people she killed were evil, it doesn't mean it won't leave its mark.

You will go through a roller coaster of emotions in these books. They are so good you won't be able to walk away for long, if at all. I inhaled these and as soon as I finished one, I immediately started the other! The spice in here was nice when it was there, but it wasn't the main focus and they weren't crazy descriptive or explicit compared to other dark fiction. If you love some good role reversals with a strong female character who does her own saving and a strong male character who wants to protect and defend, then I highly recommend you read this book. If you love reading a book where you are conflicted about where the line is between right and wrong, good and bad, then this book is one you should definitely read.

Spice: 3/5 (few but nice when there)
Plot: 5/5
Character Dev: 5/5
Overall: 5/5
