Did not finish book. Stopped at 47%.

This doorstopper was a total slog to get through. I don't hate it, but sometimes it is so pretentious that I can't help but feel I am not the intended audience, and instead it was meant for sad, beige Harry Potter adults. This is why I tend to avoid books about stories, because they so often veer into the conceit of liking books as a superior personality trait. 

Maybe I will come back to this some day if I really enjoy her other work but ultimately I had this library book in my house for so long that I felt compelled to return it even though my library doesn't charge late fees.
