✨ARC GRAPHIC NOVEL REVIEW✨

Okay so I haven’t read a graphic novel since I was in middle school but this one stuck out to me on Netgalley. Firstly, thank you to @netgalley and @onipress for gifting me a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This was a really quick read, I finished it in less than two hours and really enjoyed the break from traditional reading. As someone who hasn’t read a graphic novel in a while, it did take some getting used to in which panel to go to next, but once you get in the swing of things it was smooth sailing.

I really enjoyed the artwork and thought it was beautifully illustrated. Everyone is extremely attractive which I feel is the norm for graphic novels but I wished there was more diversity in body styles and looks of the characters.

This is a marriage of convenience between two rival clans who are descended from dragons after generations of war. The marriage is meant to broker peace, but not everyone is accepting of the war being over.

Our MMC, Kyro, is reluctant about his upcoming nuptials and looks down upon our FMC Clove, thinking her weak and “just like the rest”. I will admit she was a bit timid for my liking but we get glimpses of the fire that burns underneath her skin. I’m eager to see her develop and flourish in the upcoming volumes.

I wasn’t expecting a love triangle which was a bit shocking to see, as I wanted our Enemies to Lovers to be the main focus and I hope that storyline dissipates as the volumes go on.

Not much happened in Volume One but I equate it to the first 10 chapters of a traditional novel. This book sets up the rest which is just fine with me!
