Gunnar's Daughter by Sigrid Undset

5.0

I would compare this revenge tale to any of the greats - The Count of Monte Cristo comes to mind - but it is truer to life, in its depiction of the deep sadness that must accompany revenge. It's a quick read. With a few well chosen words, Nobel-winner Undset evokes the emotions and motivations of her complex characters.
