I actually had to DNF this book at ~90%. It was my own fault. I'd set myself up for failure from the start. You see, I'd pictured doofy Dennis the bloodhound as my own dog (not a blood hound, but kinda doofy all the same).
And then the unthinkable happened. Dennis died. All I could see in my mind was my Sid laying there under the blanket and I just couldn't do it anymore. I couldn't keep reading. That scene hit me so hard I just couldn't pick it back up without crying. Will I finish reading it someday? Maybe. But it's been over two weeks and I still tear up a little bit when I think about it.
