Kafka Was the Rage: A Greenwich Village Memoir by Anatole Broyard

funny informative sad fast-paced

3.5

A nostalgic - sometimes to a fault - memoir of Greenwich Village that reflects Broyard's prejudices without dismissing the people he encounters either. Broyard also passed as white as an adult despite being Black, which really changes the context of certain lines and moments, especially his reluctance to bring his parents anywhere near his home.
